There was a time, a few years back, when Scod, Gatesy and Yon aka Tripod were often seen on TV. They even made appearances on sketch comedy shows.
Their unique combination of melodic tunes and comic lyrics has made them a very popular group, as you will see in this recording of a live performance. Their fans are earnest and receptive.
For some people, this is a DVD that will be watched again and again. Others might treat this more like a CD than a DVD, opting to listen to the occasional song, and not necessarily watch the entire concert.
Fans will no doubt enjoy the feeling of being at the concert, while others will just want to focus on the songs.
A minor quibble would be the way in which the performers occasionally perform to camera, which detracts from the feeling that one is watching a live performance. It makes it obvious that there is a camera separating the viewer from the performance, not to mention being somewhat unfair to the audience members who surely deserved Tripod's full attention.
Nevertheless, their irreverent take on the people and cultural icons that are familiar to us all, combined with their musical skill, makes for a very entertaining experience. And unlike their TV performances, the songs on this DVD are uncensored, and performed in all their cheeky, foul-mouthed glory.
