Quiet Chaos (Caos Calmo)

In a cruel twist of fate, Pietro's wife dies at home, while he is rescuing a woman from drowning.
While he looks after his ten-year old daughter, he makes lists in his mind: places he has lived, airlines he has flown, things he didn't know about his wife.

He takes to spending the days in the park across the road from his daughter's school, so that she can look out the window and wave at him, and so that he, too, can be comforted by knowing that she is near. Each day, there are people and events that become familiar: a woman walking a dog, another woman walking with a retarded boy.

Pietro finds a sense of calm and reflection in the park, but his serenity is fractured by the procession of people who visit him in the park to unload their problems onto him. Meanwhile, his company is facing a merger that could well put many of them (including Pietro) out of work
.
Yet he remains calm and philosophical. Could it be that his wife's death has afforded him a new perspective on life? Or is there chaos simmering beneath the surface? And how long can he hide away before the realities of outside world demand that he return to it?
