Vintage Cinema

Erich Kunzel has been conducting the Cincinatti Pops Orchestra since its formation in 1977. Together, they have recorded a number of film music compilations that have brought countless hours of listening pleasure to lovers of film music and popular classics.
In this collection, we are treated to classics from the years 1933-1962. As you can imagine, it would be a difficult task to select exapmles of the definitive soundtracks of the time, but this CD has managed to include an excellent representation of the major composers of the time, and their better-known works.
Although there are a number of tracks from soundtracks of the period, there are also a number of suites, which makes this disc all the more appealing. The suites, of course, combine a number of musical themes from the films from which they're taken, rather than just focusing on one section of the film.
Soundtrack enthusiasts may well own a number of entire recordings of the soundtracks included in the compilation, but won't necessarily have the suites included in this collection.
But this CD is not just for enthusiasts. Vintage Cinema continues the Cincinatti Pops Orchestra's tradition of accessable and fine recordings of film music.
