The Music Of Batman

A number of composers have penned music to the various incarnations of Batman in film and on television over the years. This disc contains an excellent selection of their work.

From the cheesy nostalgic "da-na-na-na-na-na-na-nas" of the television theme, to the masterful cinematic scores, Batman has been represented musically in a variety of styles.

Despite the fact that many of these composers didn't literally work together, many of the tracks on this CD represent a collaboration, of sorts. As with many films that spur a number of sequels, the music to various Batman films was composed by different people. Nevertheless, these composers (such as Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmerman, James Newton Howard - each with their distinctive compositional style) have integrated elements of other composer's works, in order to maintain the integrity of the film version and its sequels. This has been most apparent when listening to the many Batman suites performed and recorded over the years, but evidence of this outstanding musicianship is now contained in Silva Screen's admirable compilation.
